Ingredients
- 1 large ham hock, or 3 small ham hocks
- 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, cut into chunks
- 2 pounds fresh green beans, cut into pieces
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 tsp garlic, freshly minced
- 1 tsp seasoning salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
Instructions
Chop the potatoes, after peeling
Prepare the fresh green beans by snapping and then breaking into pieces
Chop the onion
Place the ham hock into the slow cooker, cover with the lid and cook on high for one hour
Lower the temperature to the low setting and cook for 3 hours
Remove the cover and the ham hock, place the potatoes and the chicken broth into the slow cooker
Add in the onions, seasoning salt, garlic and pepper
Slice and cut the ham into bite sized pieces before adding it back into the slow cooker
The last ½ hour of cooking time, add in the green beans
Remove the cover, combine the water with the cornstarch and stir into the slow cooker.
Cook for an additional 30 minutes, stirring occasionally
